NSERC award tops off kin student`s degree

The presitgious award is valued at $17,500 for one year and is given out to the top-ranked postgraduate applicants based on their academic excellence, research potential, communication skills and interpersonal and leadership abilities.

“It is an honour to have received such a distinction. However, it would never have happened without the advice, assistance, time and support from Drs Fabien Basset and Jeannette Byrne. They were with me every step of the way, believing in me when I believed otherwise … For what they've done, I don’t think I could ever do justice my repayment. In my opinion, we were awarded the CGS, rather than just me.”

While at Memorial, Nick also received the 30th/25th Anniversary Scholarship from HKR / Varsity, in addition to the entrance scholarship. Nick is headed to the University of British Columbia in the fall, to pursue a MSc. in rehabilitation sciences. He will be in the Faculty of Medicine, working with Dr. Lara Boyd's team in the brain behaviour lab.
