The transportation of dangerous goods is regulated by Transport Canada, and regulations have been established for safety requirements for the transportation of such items. Many items that we are aware of are considered dangerous goods such as acids and other chemicals. However, many other items that we may not think of as being "dangerous goods" are covered under this legislation.
The Department of Health and Safety provides training for shippers and receivers of dangerous goods. Training and certification is required of all individuals who make shipment under the Dangerous Good Act.
