Student Health Surveys 2008, 2013

In 2008, in collaboration with the University Counseling Center, we surveyed the student population after obtaining ethics approval from Human Investigations Committee. The instrument used was the National College Health Assessment (NCHA) survey, which is the foremost survey on student health, and is done throughout North American universities. Our survey results were presented to senior administration and the students.

Our survey data indicated significant mental health issues, and supported the hiring of a university psychiatrist dedicated to our student population in 2008. The 2008 survey results can be accessed by clicking here

In Spring 2013, we repeated the survey in collaboration with 33 other Canadian universities to participate in the  largest Canadian Student health sample ever.  5000 students were invited to participate in survey by email, 912 reponded (an appropriate statistical sample, response rate 18%). The results of the Memorial University Spring 2013 survey can be accessed by clicking here.  The results of this survey will help plan health programming and services.  Please feel free to view and share the results.
