Dr. Qiying Chen, Canada Research Chair in Photonics, Department of Physics and Physical Oceanography, had a piece of work published in the prestigious Electronics Letters journal. Femtosecond Laser Microstructured Fibre Refractive Index Sensor with Temperature Compensation was the first independent research from a Canadian university published in this leading journal. The first author of the paper, Ping Lu, is Dr. Chen’s PhD student and the only NSERC Vanier Scholar at Memorial.
