Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL) recently presented Earth Sciences adjunct professor Dr. Alana Hinchey with the PEGNL Early Accomplishment Award given to PEGNL members in recognition of exceptional achievement in the early years of their professional career and for outstanding work-related achievement and notable leadership in the profession and/or community.
Dr. Steve Piercey, an associate professor, also with Earth Sciences, received the PEGNL Teaching Award which recognizes exemplary contribution to the teaching and learning of the engineering and geoscience at Memorial University. The award encourages excellence in the current teaching of engineering and geoscience.
In addition, Earth Sciences alumni, Dr. Brian O'Brien, received the PEGNL Award of Merit which bestows distinction on outstanding engineers and geoscientists to recognize their exceptional achievements in either of engineering and geoscience. This the highest award presented by PEGNL.
Dr. Dennis Peters in Engineering was also awarded the Teaching Award and was elected as a Fellow of Engineers Canada.
