Presidential search documents available online
The search for a new president for Memorial University has resulted in an ongoing public discussion about the autonomy of the university and the role of the provincial government in the selection.A number of statements and releases have been issued by the university, government and others on the matter.
The most recent was a resolution by the Board of Regents in which it accepted the recommendation of Senate from Sept. 9 calling for a committee of both Board and Senate members to recommend changes to the University Act that would “secure and preserve autonomy for the university and … bring clarity to the role of government in the presidential search process.”
