NotableLouise Dawe won the Journal of Chemical Crystallography poster prize at the 2008 American Crystallographic Association meeting in Knoxville, TN, for her poster titled Long Range Magnetic Cooperativity through Extended Structural Motifs? Introducing Intermolecular π-π Interactions into [3x3] Mn(II)9 and Cu(II)9 Grids. Ms. Dawe is a PhD candidate in the Department of Chemistry.
Memorial University has its first Atlantic Association for Research in the Mathematical Sciences (AARMS)-sponsored postdoctoral fellow. Dr. Daniel Horsley obtained his bachelor’s degree (2002) and his PhD (2008) from the University of Queensland, Australia. His research interests lie in combinatorics, particularly in the field of graph decompositions. Dr. Horsley will be under the supervision of Dr. David Pike, Department of Mathematics and Statistics for the two year duration of his position.
