Teacher Bursary and Teacher Fellowship Programs


Teacher Bursary Program: In Newfoundland and Labrador, subject to funding received from the Department of Canadian Heritage, teachers are eligible to receive a bursary to take French courses in which the language of instruction is French. The amount of the bursary is $500 per week to a maximum of six weeks.

Teacher Fellowship Program: Teachers may also be eligible to receive a Teacher Fellowship which has the purpose of assisting teachers to enhance their professional qualifications to teach French as a second language in Newfoundland and Labrador. Applicants must be in full-time attendance at an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution in a French milieu in Canada and must take credit courses in which the language of instruction is French. The maximum bursary amount that a teacher can receive under this program is $25,000 ($12,500) per semester.
