Green Mindfulness is a weekly drop-in group which uses gardening/plants to create a space for students to come socialize, meet people, relax and develop introductory mindfulness skills. The goal of this group is to have students be present in the moment with the help of a plant based activity. Students are encouraged to pay particular attention to their five senses and how engaging them through the activity can help them be present, reduce their stress level in the moment and increase their feelings of calmness. Green Mindfulness was developed and is facilitated by our doctoral psychology resident, Jodi Stuckless and the academic director of the MUN Botanical Gardens, Dr. Norm Goodyear.
