U.K. Mobile Biometrics Clinic

Planning on working or studying (long-term) in the United Kingdom in the near future?

If so you need to know that there will be a U.K. mobile biometrics clinic visiting Memorial University in St. John's on November 20th and 21st , 2014. To determine if you need to complete the biometric process, please visit the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) website, www.ukvisas.gov.uk

Visa applicants are advised to read all sections related to their particular visa type thoroughly to ensure they include all required supporting documentation in their application package.

What is a 'biometrics' clinic?

It is a clinic where you will have digital fingerprints and photographs taken as a part of the visa process for the UK.

Why would I be interested?

In November 2008, the U.K. Border Agency underwent a complete restructuring of their immigration system at which time they implemented biometrics as a part of their visa application process. The only physical visa application centres in Canada to have this process completed are Ottawa, Toronto, Edmonton, and Vancouver (or a mobile clinic that visits Halifax). Your visa application will not be viewed until you have enrolled your biometric information. Without the mobile unit, you will have to fly to one of the previously noted locations to have the biometrics completed at your expense.

How do I make an appointment?

Please note that you cannot book a biometrics appointment without applying for a visa first.

You can make an appointment by visiting www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk.

The fee is $112.00 CDN plus tax for each application and must be paid online on the VFS website immediately following the appointment being booked. This fee is in addition to the visa application fee. This fee includes the outbound and return dlivery of your visa documents to/from the UK Visas and Immigration Decision Making Centre (DMC).

Where does the mobile biometrics clinic take place?

The clinic will be located at the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland in downtown St. John's (115 Cavendish Square).

What do I bring to the appointment?

It is required that you bring the following to the clinic:

  • Valid passport
  • Completed and printed visa application form (including all supporting documentation)
  • Appointment letter
  • Second valid form of identification
