Please register for convocation even if you have not yet received confirmation of your eligibility to graduate or you do not plan to attend the ceremony so arrangements can be made to send your parchment to you.

To begin the process, register and provide the information listed below, by logging onto the Memorial Self Service website.

Please indicate:

  • If you will or will not be attending convocation;
  • The number of guest tickets you will require. Guest seating will be limited because of the size of the auditorium. Each graduand receives their own seating pass and may request up to three guest tickets.
  • If extra guest tickets are available after all graduating student allotments have been made, they will be made available on a first come-first serve basis. Requests for additional tickets can be sent to Debbie Giles.
  • Academic dress is ordered through a link on Memorial Self Service to Gaspard Ltd. This company will collect your information and have your academic dress pre-packaged and waiting for you at the Arts and Culture Centre, one hour before your ceremony. If you are deemed academically ineligible to graduate at this session of Convocation a refund can be arranged by contacting marcomm@mun.ca.

The information you provide to Gaspard Ltd. can be changed or updated anytime before the deadline of TBD.

You must register by the deadline, in order to receive your allotment of guest tickets, even if your status is pending. If we do not receive your information by this date, no guest tickets will be issued to you.

The cost of academic dress ordered before the registration deadline is $35. After the deadline academic dress is $60 cash; this will be paid when picking up your academic dress at the Arts and Culture Centre.

Please note that no tickets will be issued through the Memorial Self Service to students who have outstanding financial or academic restrictions. If you are in this situation, please call (709) 637-6206.

Guest tickets, as well as the student's seating pass, will be available on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 before the rehearsal for convocation at the Arts and Culture Centre.

Academic Dress Distribution

Students can visit the Gaspard link on Memorial Self Service and request academic dress starting TBD. There is a charge associated with renting academic dress. The cost of academic dress ordered before the registration deadline is $35. After the deadline academic dress is $60 cash; this will be paid when picking up your academic dress.

Memorial's Academic dress consists of a gown, hood and hat. The hood colours and styles vary by the degree being conferred. Click the link below to view our hood colours and degrees.

Hood colours and degrees

When you pick up your academic dress, please confirm with the attendant the degree(s) you are receiving to ensure that you receive the correct colour hood(s) for the degree(s).

Hats are part of academic dress and wearing them is compulsory. Also, if you already hold a degree, you do not wear that hood at this convocation.

You are requested to return your academic dress following the convocation ceremony. The hat is yours to keep.

The provision of academic dress, for photography service only, is provided through the St. John's Campus Bookstore. For details on that service, please contact the St. John's Campus Bookstore.

Ticket Distribution

Tickets for graduating students and their guests will be available prior to the rehearsal.
