Tours are available during our regular open hours.

What to expect when visiting MUN Botanical Garden:

While our garden isn’t the formal design you would expect from a Botanical Garden, that difference is what makes us a top destination for all nature lovers.

Located at 306 Mount Scio Road, St. John's, our 110 acres includes extensive nature trails, a fresh water pond and of course our wonderful gardens, which include:

Alpine house
Asian garden
Cottage garden
Heritage garden
Medicinal garden
Peat garden

Pollinator garden
Potager garden
Rhododendron garden
Rock garden
Woodland garden

By joining us on a tour, you can walk away feeling an appreciation of all the nature this unique province holds.

Group Options

Groups must be booked at least 1 week in advance to receive the group discount.  Most groups book 1-2 months in advance to guarantee their preferred date.

Adult Groups $5/personBooking Form
-10 or more people
-Ages 18+
-Tour guide is optional, with cost of $50/guide/25 participants/hour
-Bus parking will be reserved
-One payment to be taken at the time of your visit or invoiced

The general garden tour covers the Garden’s history, the basics of gardening in Newfoundland and a tour of most of our flower gardens.  You may also book one of these themes:

  • Bird Watching
  • Native Wildflowers
  • Tree Identification
  • Wild Edible Plants
  • Newfoundland Ecology
  • Vegetable Gardening
  • Composting
  • Vermicomposting

Youth Group Tours $5/youthBooking Form
-8-25 youth
-Age 3-17
-1 guide admitted free per 8 youth (special needs may have more)
-Tour guide is mandatory, and price is included in 1 hour tour
-Additional guided tour time at cost of $40/hour
-Bus parking will be reserved
-One payment to be taken at the time of your visit or invoiced

All programs can include a nature hike, a visit to the flower gardens, and duck feeding at Oxen Pond. These programs are designed to foster a greater understanding of the natural environment and encourage environmental stewardship and respect.

Family Group Tour $5/personBooking Form
-8-25 people
-All ages
-Tour guide is mandatory, and price is included in 1 hour tour
-Additional guided tour time at cost of $40/hour
-Bus parking will be reserved
-One payment to be taken at the time of your visit or invoiced

Family programs can be booked with us to cover a general tour or a specific theme. We are happy to include story-time, songs, duck feeding, arts & crafts, meeting the critters, and games upon your request. All programs are held primarily outdoors and would include a walk through some of our gardens and trails. Please let us know at the time of booking if you have a specific theme you would like covered, and we will try to accommodate your request.

For all Group Tours:

Groups larger than 25 total people will be split into smaller groups, with each one receiving a guide (if required or requested).  Additional guide fees will apply for adult groups.

Smaller groups may book a tour:

  • Adult groups for less than 10 people will pay general admission + $50 guide fee.
  • Youth groups for less than 8 youth will pay $40.
  • Family groups for less than 8 people will pay $40.

Many trails are wheelchair accessible. Please discuss your group’s needs with your booking representative.

All tour and programs are mainly held outside, and will go ahead unless you choose to cancel.  MUN Botanical Garden reserves the right to cancel programs if they feel there is a safety concern.
