Variations in the mitochondrial DNA genetic code of vertebrate animals

    The code differs in the arrangement of Stop Codons and by an extra Met codon, such that AUR codes for Met.

    In Biol 2250, the vertebrate mtDNA code is important because many of the examples used in the lab and lecture are based on actual mitochondrial DNA sequence data produced in Dr Carr's lab. In any example, be sure you are using the correct code to for the type of DNA involved.
