Interested in a career in policing with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary?
Memorial's Faculty of Arts offers a Diploma Program in Police Studies to students who have been accepted as recruit cadets with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary. This program is a partnership between the RNC and Memorial University. Candidates have to successfully complete the RNC's application and recruitment process and also have completed the academic requirements necessary to enter the program.
This program began in 2004, and allows potential RNC officers who previously had to train at Atlantic Police Academy in Prince Edward Island for considerable cost, the opportunity to stay in their home province and receive their training. The one-year program provides the academic and experiential learning components relevant to future work as police officers.
To date 223 police officers have graduated from the program and all have been hired by the RNC.
Recruiting takes place once a year beginning in September with applications due in November to start the following September. The next application intake will be in the Fall 2014. Information sessions will be scheduled starting in Sept 2014 and will take place across the province.
We will be conducting a police officer recruitment drive for the Class of 2015- 2016 beginning in September 2014.
The first Information Session on September 8, 2014 at Memorial University Bruneau Centre from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
