Current Research

Under the direction of Dr. Lisa Rankin, Jeralyn will excavate an 18th century Inuit sod house structure at the Double Mer Point site near Rigolet, Labrador. The project will explore the development of the communal house phenomenon in southern and central Labrador. Recent work by Dr. Rankin and her students has revealed that the Inuit communal house may have developed in southern Labrador earlier than previously thought. Excavations at Double Mer Point will add valuable detailed information about the Inuit settlements in the region.
