Andrew Woodland, B.Comm.(Co-op.)'06
I come from a family that has a long history with Memorial. Four generations of my family have been employees or received degrees from MUN. I obtained a Bachelor of Commerce from MUN in 2006, named to the Dean’s List in my final year. During my studies I represented MUN at national competitions and worked as a student recruiter. I was proud to represent MUN, and now seek that opportunity again. I offer a unique perspective and expertise to the Board. After graduating from MUN I acquired a law degree. I am employed as in-house counsel with a focus on property law for the City of St. John’s. I am well versed in the complexities of large, statute-based organizations. Furthermore, I have attended universities in New Brunswick and Sweden; my experience with the operations of other universities is another benefit I would bring to the Board. I have a strong history of volunteerism and community involvement. For example, I serve on the board for Choices for Youth, am a long term volunteer with heritage fairs and a past Board member for Scouts and Historica. I also enjoy playing in basketball and frisbee leagues year round. I have always been an advocate of MUN, both within the province and abroad, as I truly believe it is one of our best resources and assets. My studies abroad solidified my belief that we have a world-class institution and I would be honoured to help maintain that quality. Thank you for your consideration.
