Science Rendezvous

How to Get Involved:

Science Rendezvous (SR) is a national event that occurs each year during May (https://www.sciencerendezvous.ca/). For the past two years, the event at MUN has been virtual due to the pandemic, and we are planning to return to an on-campus event based out of the Core Science Facility on May 13, 2023. We are eager to get young minds back to experiencing STEAM to the fullest and in-person!
Since 2016, SR has grown significantly at MUN from a small event within the Science Building to one that now spreads over multiple buildings with many faculties and external exhibitors taking part. Planning such an event requires a keen and conscientious team in order to be successful and anyone interested in being on the Science Rendezvous MUN Executive Committee in one of the volunteer roles below, is asked to forward their details with a description of why they want to join our team to Lisa Breen, Chair, Science Rendezvous MUN at lisa.breen@mun.ca.
Science Rendezvous MUN Executive Committee Roles:
Volunteer Coordinator
• The volunteer coordinator recruits a copious number of volunteers needed to make the day run smoothly and help public visitors navigate campus and get to the buildings involved taking part in SR. You are well-connected, are very organized, and are an excellent multi-tasker.
Communications & Social Media
• As the social media rep, you maintain the SR social media pages on FB, Twitter, & Instagram (and others as needed). You have a great imagination and are can create posts to bring traffic to our pages and the event itself.
Logistics Coordinator
• The logistics coordinator contributes to the design and flow of the spaces used to make SR successful. This would include booking spaces on campus based on the needs of the exhibitors and ensuring public attendees can navigate the event easily. The logistics coordinator is very detail-oriented and mindful of public safety and space restrictions (if applicable in 2023).
General Committee Member
• You have a variety of talents and are able to pitch in and help when and wherever needed!
