Student Services and Campus Renewal Fees FAQ
1. What is the student services fee and to whom does it apply?
The student services fee supports services which promote student success and well-being, including professional development and career advising, health and wellness, and advocacy and support.
The fee is $50 per semester or technical session and it applies to all registered undergraduate, graduate, certificate, diploma and advanced diploma students across all Memorial campuses, including online, with the exception of incoming exchange students and visiting graduate students.
2. What is the campus renewal fee and to whom does the new campus renewal fee apply?
The campus renewal fee supports revitalization of physical and technological infrastructure, and it applies to all registered undergraduate, certificate, diploma and advanced diploma students across all Memorial campuses, including online, with the exception graduate degree and graduate diploma students on continuance, incoming exchange students and visiting graduate students.
The campus renewal fee is $16.67 per credit hour or $50 per three-credit course up to a maximum of $250 per semester. Students in certificate and diploma programs that are not offered on a per credit hour basis will pay $50 per course.
Students enroled in co-operative education programs will not be required to pay the campus renewal fee during the semester they are on a work term.
The campus renewal fee is $166.67 per semester for graduate degree and graduate diploma students across all campuses, including online.
3. Are the fees considered eligible tuition fees for tax purposes?
Yes. The mandatory fees will be included as part of the eligible tuition fees shown on your T2202A.
4. I am a student in the Faculty of Medicine. Do these fees apply to me?
Yes, these fees apply to students in the Faculty of Medicine.
5. I am in a program with co-operative education work terms. Does the student services fee apply to me when I am on a work term?
Yes. Students completing co-operative education work terms, or any other type of work experience, including placements with course credit hours, will pay the student services fee of $50 per semester.
6. Are these fees refundable?
The fees are refundable when the course is dropped by the last day for undergraduate and graduate students to drop courses and receive a 100% refund of tuition fees.
7. Do English as a Second Language (ESL) bridging students pay this fee?
Yes. ESL students register for undergraduate courses in addition to ESL courses and are required to pay the fee based on the credit hours for the courses they select and register for.
