General admission requirements

Required subject areas

  1. English
  2. Mathematics1,2
  3. Laboratory Science1 (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)
  4. Social Studies or Modern/Classical Language1
  5. Elective

Students who are missing an eligible course in one of subject groups 2, 3 or 4, who apply for admission to a program that does not require completion of these courses, will be considered for general admission. In this case, an eligible course in subject groups 1, 2, 3 or 4 may be used to substitute the missing course.

Calculus is a required course in first year for business/commerce (St. John's campus only) and science programs at Memorial. To ensure students are prepared for entry into their chosen program of study, 12th level pre-calculus mathematics is normally required for admission to these programs. The mathematics requirement may also be met through the College Board SAT. A minimum Math Test score of 500 is required for general admission; 550 is recommended for business/commerce and science programs as noted above. Other mathematics tests/courses may be considered at the discretion of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.

  • Admission to some programs is competitive for a limited number of spaces. A higher admission average and/or supplementary information may be required as part of the faculty-specific admissions.
