General admission requirements

Required subject areas

  1. English
  2. Mathematics*
  3. Laboratory Science* (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)
  4. Social Studies or Modern/Classical Language
  5. Elective

*Students who are missing an eligible course in subject groups 2, 3 or 4, who apply for admission to a program that does not require completion of these courses, will be considered for general admission. In this case, an eligible course in subject groups 1 to 4 may be used to substitute the missing course. Students who are missing eligible courses in two subject areas should contact admissions@mun.ca.

Competitive-entry program (if applicable)
  • Admission to some programs is competitive for a limited number of spaces. A higher admission average and/or supplementary information may be required as part of the faculty-specific admissions.

If you are currently in high school

When you apply (early decision)
  • Translated current, interim transcript and current original language interim transcript, showing your current course registrations should be e-mailed as soon as they are available. 
  • Official English proficiency test result sent directly from the testing authority.
  • Supplementary information required for competitive-entry programs may be required with your application. 
When you complete your examinations (final decision)
  • Certified translation of your final transcript and a certified copy of the original language document. These documents must be received by the Office of the Registrar directly from the school/issuer.

If you have completed high school and not attended a post-secondary institution

  • Certified translation of your final transcript and a certified copy of the original language document. These official documents must be received by the Office of the Registrar directly from the school/issuer.
  • Official English proficiency test result sent directly from the testing authority.
  • Supplementary information required for competitive-entry programs may be required with your application.

If you have attended a post-secondary institution
