General Admission Requirements

Diplôme du Baccalauréat General (Baccalaureate Diploma – General)

 

Required Subject Areas

  1. English
  2. Mathematics*
  3. Laboratory Science* (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)
  4. Social Studies or Modern/Classical Language
  5. Elective

*Students who are missing an eligible course in subject groups 2, 3 or 4, who apply for admission to a program that does not require completion of these courses, will be considered for general admission. In this case, an eligible course in subject groups 1, 2, 3 or 4 may be used to substitute the missing course. Students who are missing eligible courses in two subject areas should contact admissions@mun.ca.

 

General Admission Criteria

Grade requirement
  • Minimum grade of 12.00 in the required subject areas. All examinations must be conducted by an examination authority located in France, however, examinations conducted by equivalent authorities elsewhere may also follow the same requirements. Please see your country’s specific requirements for more information.
English language proficiency
  • Proof of English language proficiency is required through a standardized test. Applicants from Morocco and Senegal should note that IELTS is the recommended test for the Canadian visa/study permit application.
Competitive program entry (if applicable)
  • Admission to some programs is competitive for a limited number of spaces. A higher admission average and/or supplementary information may be required as part of the faculty-specific admissions.

If you are currently completing your diploma

When you apply (early decision)
  • Translated current, interim transcript and current original language French, interim transcript.
  • Official English proficiency test result sent directly from the testing authority.
  • Supplementary information required for competitive-entry programs may be required with your application.
    • If you are applying for admission to nursing or fine arts, you should e-mail an unofficial copy of your transcript, showing mid-year grade/progress report (issued by your school in January/February) no later than March 1.
When you complete your examinations (final decision)
  • Certified translation of Diplôme du Baccalauréat General and certified copy of the original language French document sent by post or courier to the Office of the Registrar.

 

If you have completed your diploma and not attended a post-secondary institution

  • Certified translation of Diplôme du Baccalauréat General and certified copy of the original French language document sent by post or courier to the Office of the Registrar.
  • Official English proficiency test result sent directly from the testing authority.
  • Supplementary information required for competitive-entry programs may be required with your application.

 

If you have attended a post-secondary institution
