Graduate Supervisor Institute
The Memorial University-Athabasca University Graduate Supervisor Institute (GSI) consists of 10 sessions offered from October to July each academic year. Each session covers a topic area relevant to graduate supervisors, and provides an opportunity to informally meet, ask questions, and discuss issues and best practices in graduate student supervision. Where possible, sessions may also include guest subject matter experts from within and outside Memorial University and Athabasca University.
Program eligibility
GSI participants must be employed as contractual or permanent faculty at either Memorial University or Athabasca University to be eligible. Participants must regsiter for each session they plan to attend.
Curriculum
The GSI is designed to provide training and support for both new and experienced faculty supervisors. It is offered both in synchronous and asynchronous forms. The schedule for the synchronous sessions for 2020-2021 are noted below. Memorial University and Athabasca University will issue a certificate of completion for participants who attend and participate in at least 7 of the 10 synchronous workshops.
How to participate
To enroll in the GSI, Memorial University or Athabasca University faculty can register here https://event-wizard.com/sgsgsnov2020/0/register/ for the second module no later than noon NDT time on November 20, 2020.
