I am a SHAD alum who graduated from Ascension Collegiate. I am doing a Bachelor of Science with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry. I am enormously grateful for this scholarship; it will allow me to focus on my education. I hope to become a marine biologist.

I am extremely grateful to Memorial University for the honour of being awarded this scholarship. This award alleviates the financial burden of post-secondary education, and motivates me to excel in the future. I will be studying Law and Society, with the goal of attending law school, a goal that this scholarship will help me to reach.

My name is Emma Power and I am a graduate of Queen Elizabeth High School, now studying Engineering at MUN. Receiving this scholarship has greatly lessened the financial strain on myself and my family, allowing me to fully take in the university experience. What this award means to him:
 I am quite honoured to receive a scholarship this prestigious. It is because of this scholarship that I am able to attend Memorial without the financial pressures that often accompany university life, and for that I am very grateful. What this award means to her: It is an honour to be a recipient of such a prestigious award. Receiving this scholarship allows me to concentrate on my studies without financial pressures. This scholarship was established in 2005 by a generous donation from the estate of Dr. and Mrs. Ball. The endowment will provide scholarships at the value of $7,500.00 per annum for up to four years of study to students entering Memorial University of Newfoundland for the first time. The number of the annual scholarships will be based on a portion of the annual income, as per the Awards Program Spending Policy. The scholarship will be awarded by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Scholarships and Financial Aid on the basis of scholarship standing.
