Newfoundland and Labrador Students
Each spring, Memorial University offers a limited number of entrance scholarships to qualifying Canadian students enrolled in Newfoundland and Labrador High Schools.
Entrance scholarships are valued at either $2,550 or $1,275. These values are equivalent to tuition fees for two semesters (10 courses/30 credit hours of full-time study) and one semester (5 courses/15 credit hours of full-time study) respectively. These will be offered at a ratio of approximately two $2,550 entrance scholarships for each $1,275 scholarship offered.
Early offers will be made to eligible candidates who applied for admission to Memorial by the March 1st deadline. The process by which offers will be made is currently under review and will be communicated to all schools in the province once the review is complete.
Please note that while only students with a 90% early average will be considered for an early offer, we cannot predict what the cut-off average will be. Offers will be made to eligible students in late March until all funds have been offered.
A minimum final admission average of 90% will be required in order to maintain entrance scholarship eligibility. Final entrance scholarship eligibility, for those who receive early offers, will be confirmed in August. Any funds that are available in August will be allocated with additional (late) entrance scholarship offers for eligible students who have not already received an offer.
To be eligible, you must be a high school student, graduating from a Newfoundland and Labrador High School, entering the first year of an undergraduate degree program at Memorial University in September 2020, and have an average of 90% or higher in final grades for applicable courses completed or the mid-term grades for applicable courses being completed during the school year. The courses used must be those required for admission to the university. Applicants must have also demonstrated leadership contributions to school and community in Levels I, II, and III.
The Scholarship application is in writeable PDF format and must be downloaded for completion. The application will be available in January 2020.
Deadline for receipt of the completed application is March 1st each year.
