Strategic Institutional Research Initiatives (SIRI)
The Office of Strategic Institutional Research Initiatives (SIRI) was created to facilitate and support highly innovative and ground-breaking research at Memorial University. We foster relationships across campuses, as well as with government, industry and foundations to identify emerging opportunities that enable collaborative, interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, and multi-investor research programs. SIRI strives to encourage and augment research interests that have an impact on scientific discovery and its resulting social and economic value.
SIRI oversees the administration of and provides support for:
- The development of applications and proposals to the Canada Foundation for Innovation, Canada Research Chairs program, larger-scale Tri-Agency programs and other major funding opportunities.
- Nominating faculty for prestigious awards and honours, and coordination of Memorial’s internal research award programs.
- Management of the Core Research Equipment and Instrument Training (CREAIT) Network.
