Mr. Letto is an accomplished communicator and writer. During a three decade career at the CBC, he held several positions, including political reporter and co-host of Here and Now. From 2005 to 2013, he was a key member of the CBC leadership team, with responsibility for Here and Now.

Since June 2013, Mr. Letto has been principal with Doug Letto Consulting. He has consulted with many organizations, and delivered workshops on communicating science and complex topics, provided media and presentation training, and assisted in developing strategic communication plans.

Also in 2014, Mr. Letto was named one of three members of a panel to review Newfoundland and Labrador’s access-to-information laws, established by the provincial government after concerns were raised about Bill 29.

He is the author of four books, the most recent of which was released in October 2015. Newfoundland’s Last Prime Minister tells the story of Frederick Alderdice and his government’s unsuccessful effort to stave off default in 1933, with the resulting loss of responsible government.
