Elizabeth Hill

I received a Bachelor’s degree in music with a minor in philosophy from Midwestern State University in 2013. In 2017, I earned a Master’s in philosophy from Gonzaga University. My Master’s thesis focused on contemporary feminist critiques of Western philosophy and its roots in antiquity. I am currently interested in Plato’s erotic philosophy and its relationship to Platonic and Neoplatonic theories of evil. I am also interested in the idea of beauty in Plato and its implications for a Platonic account of desire and evil. To date, I have presented papers on William James’ account of religious experience and its implications for aesthetic experience, care for the whole person in Plato’s Republic, feminist interpretations and critiques of female embodiment in Plato’s Republic, and Plato’s erotic philosophy.
