Dr. Seamus O'Neill presents work in Medieval Philosophy at three different conferences
Dr Seamus O'Neill recently represented Memorial by presenting the following work at a series of meetings:
“Heaven Past and Yet to Come: Anselm and Augustine on Demonic and Human Redemption,” presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Catholic Philosophical Association, October 8-11, 2015 in a satellite session sponsored by the Institute for Saint Anselm Studies, Boston, Massachusetts.Invited
“Augustine and Aquinas on Sorcery and Demonic Possession: How Demons Lost Their Bodies in Christian Demonology,” presented at the Annual Patristic, Medieval, and Renaissance Studies Conference (PMR) at Villanova University, October 16-18, 2015, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
“The Neoplatonic Influences on the Demonology of St. Thomas Aquinas,” presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Philosophical Association (Eastern Division), January 6-9, 2016 in a satellite session sponsored by the International Society for Neoplatonic Studies, Washington D.C.
Some of this research is related to Dr. O'Neill's recent (2014-2016) SSHRC (Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada)Insight Development Grant, titled ‘Reconstructing the Demonology of St. Augustine’.
