LPN Bridging Option
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Bridging Option is available for interested applicants who are currently licensed by the College of Licenced Practical Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador. A copy of the current LPN license is required.
New requirement for 2021:

CASPer test dates for Memorial University (Undergraduate Nursing):
October 15, 2020- 5:00 PM EDT
October 22, 2020- 5:00 PM EDT
November 24, 2020- 5:00 PM EST
January 12, 2021- 5:00 PM EST
February 11, 2021- 5:00 PM EST
February 11, 2021- 8:00 PM EST
The deadline to apply is February 1. Applicants must ensure that all supporting documents are received by this deadline.
Applicants must also ensure that all supporting documents are received by this deadline. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all documentation, including both reference letters, required transcript(s), and a copy of the LPN license is submitted by the nursing documentation submission deadline.

Additionally, applicants to the LPN Bridging Option should apply for the Spring semester, not the Fall semester, on their Memorial University admission application, if not a current Memorial University student.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are applying to the LPN Bridging Option and would also like to be considered for admission to the Four-Year Option, you must also submit an application to the Four-Year Option by the deadline date.
The academic requirements for the LPN Bridging Option are:
- Biology 2201 and 3201, or equivalent
- Chemistry 3202, or equivalent
- Math 3200 or 3201, or equivalent
Applicants must ensure that they have the two required biology courses completed in high school OR both completed at the post-secondary level - these courses are a pair and must be both completed at the same level. For example, Memorial University Biology 1001 and 1002 meets the biology admission requirement for Nursing. One of Memorial University Chemistry 1010, 1011, 1050, 1051, 1200, 1800, 1810, or 1001 meets the chemistry admission requirement for Nursing. Three credit hours in math at the post-secondary level meets the math admission requiement for Nursing.
Students who are conditionally accepted to the LPN Bridging Option must successfully complete a Bridging semester at the Centre for Nursing Studies during the Spring semester. If students successfully complete this required semester, they will then bridge into Year 2 of the Bachelor of Nursing (Collaborative) Program at the Centre for Nursing Studies.
The Bridging semester consists of the following courses:
- Biochemistry 1430
- three credit hours in a Critical Reading and Writing (CRW) designated course in English
- Bridging Course (offered at the Centre for Nursing Studies)
