Scholarships, Awards and Bursaries

Sharon J/ Churchill Memorial Award in Nursing

Here in the Faculty of Nursing (FON) we love to  recognize talent and hard work!

There are many scholarships, bursaries and awards available to students in the BN (Collaborative) Program at the FON, Centre for Nursing Studies (CNS) and the Western Regional School of Nursing (WRSON).

Some are designed for those entering their first year (entrance awards); others for students beyond their first year (undergraduate awards).

Awards are available based on a particular interest in specific fields, such as heart health, or obstetrics, and you'll also find travel awards for students who want to pursue clinical studies in remote communities, in Labrador, or in a developing country. You can apply for eligible awards using this  application form

We've included links to information on external awards not administered by Memorial University for which you might be eligible.

There's also recognition every year for academic achievement through our Dean's List for students who place within the top 10 per cent of the degree program, among other criteria.

Scholarships - Applicants must have a minimum of 65% average at the end of the 2 out of the last 3 semesters in the previous scholarship year and successful completion of not less than 30 credit hours in those 2 semesters.)

Three-site undergraduate scholarships

Bursaries  -  Based primarily on financial need and may be awarded to full-time students who have a minimum GPA of 2 (out of a possible 4) and meet the other conditions of the bursary. Financial need is generally determined by whether or not a student is receiving student aid. However, departments/faculties may determine a student’s financial need through other measures such as, personal interview, submission of a budget, evidence of part-time employment, or other appropriate evidence.)
