Adm. Hist/Bio. Sketch: The S.S. Tay was built in Dundee, Scotland in 1850 official number 31624, 564 gross tons, registered at Dundee and owned by William Clark in 1872. The vessel was the first steam whaler belonging to Dundee.
Scope and Content: Three store books of the S.S. Tay, 1872-1873, while the vessel was under the command of Captain William Greig. Lists names of crew, capacity in which engaged, and provisions allotted to each one. Ability and conduct are also recorded.
