Adm. Hist/Bio. Sketch: Built at Lossiemouth, Scotland in 1868, brigantine, official number 62101, 194 registered tons, owned by William Anderson, Lossiemouth, Elginshire and was registered at Inverness. By 1890 the vessel was owned by Robert Kinnes of Dundee and was registered there.
Scope and Content: Store book for a voyage of the brigantine Chieftain, while the vessel was under the command of Captain George Lyon. The voyage commenced 8 March 1886 and terminated 20 October 1886. Lists names of crew, capacity in which engaged, and provisions allotted to each one. Ability and conduct are also recorded.
