"Nova Scotia" - Sister ship of the S.S. "Newfoundland," built by Vickers Armstrong at Barrow-in-Furness in 1926, steel, 6,796 gross tons, official number 147363, owned in 1926 by the Warren Line of Liverpool later managed by the Furness Line. Operated as a passenger liner on runs between Liverpool, St. John's, Halifax, Boston, New York and return. In 1941 she was requisitioned for direct war service and was used chiefly as a troop carrier. She was sunk 28 November 1942 by an enemy submarine off Mozambique, North Africa while carrying Italian prisoners of war from East Africa to internment in allied countries.
