Physical Description: 1 photograph : b&w ; 10 x 18 cm
Biography/Admin History: "Mary Sabena" - ex "G.A. Rhuland", schooner, official number 138397, 130 gross tons, built in 1917 in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. Registered in St. John's, Newfoundland in 1926. Owned by Patrick Dober of Marystown from 1931 to 1935. Foundered south of Newfoundland, 13 June 1938, during a voyage from Fortune Bay, Newfoundland to Canso, Nova Scotia, with a load of barrels of herring. In heavy weather her cargo shifted and she listed, taking in water.The ship foundered and all crew were rescued by the coaster "Alice Garland'. On board the "Mary Sabena" were Capt. Patrck Dober, Walter Dober (son), Peter Dober (son), Ed Fitzpatrick, Richard (Dick) Coady and Daniel Kelly.
