Biography/Admin History: The brigantine "Rosevear", official number 58225, gross tonnage 171, was built and registered in 1878 to John Banfield of St. Mary's, Scilly Islands. By 1882 the vessel was registered at St. John's, Newfoundland to Charles Thomas Bennett of Bristol, England who was involved in the Newfoundland trade. By 1892, ownership had transferred to Newfoundland merchant John Munn of Harbour Grace. The vessel was closed off of the registry in 1896, having gone missing on December 28, 1892.
