Biography/Admin History: The schooner "Olwen," Official Number 107050, was built in 1896 at Pembroke Dock, England by J. & W. Francis and was owned by W. Francis. Purchased by William A. Munn, a merchant from St. John's, Newfoundland twenty years later. Wrecked in the Atlantic Ocean, near Italy, 1 December, 1921 under the command of Capt. Douglas Burden. The crew was taken off by the Italian steamer "Volcano" and brought into Naples. The schooner "James O'Neill," Official Number 115120, was built in 1905 at Connah's Quay (Key), Wales. She was owned by the Sarnia Shipping Co., Ltd. And later William A. Munn, a merchant from St. John's, Newfoundland. She sank in the winter of 1923 after being struck with two large sheets of moving ice about one hundred miles to the south of St. Pierre. The crew managed to be rescued by the "S.S. Belvernon".
