Biography/Admin History: The schooner "Muriel," Official Number 72444, was built in 1878 at Barnstaple, England by Westcott & Sons. She was registered on July 7, 1879 and owned by Charles Thomas Bennet, a merchant from Bristol, England and John Rorke, a merchant from Carbonear, Newfoundland. The "Muriel" was lost at sea somewhere in the North Atlantic in 1892, during a voyage from Alicante to St. John's, Newfoundland.
