Biography/Admin History: The barquentine "Corisande," Official Number 67912, was built in 1873 at Dartmouth, Devonshire, England and was owned by James Grieve of Greenock, Scotland, official number 67912, 187 gross tons.Although the vessel was registered and regularly sailed out of British ports , it was involved in the Newfoundland trade and followed the North Atlantic trade routes and also made frequent voyages to the West Indies and South America. The "Corisande" was wrecked while on a voyage from Glasgow, Scotland to St. John's, Newfoundland in 16 January 1898 with Robert (Bob) Bartlett on board as a member of the crew.
