Biography/Admin History: The schooner "Champion," Official Number 94483, was built in 1888 at Moreton's Harbour, Notre Dame Bay, Newfoundland, by Thomas French of Moreton's Harbour. She was registered on May 28, 1888 and was owned by Moses Monroe, a merchant from St. John's, Newfoundland. The registery closed on March 15, 1933, many years after the "Champion" was supposed to have been lost at sea.
