Biography/Admin History: The steamer "Blue Peter," Official Number 110576, was built in 1899 at Port Glasgow, Scotland by R. Duncan & Co., Ltd. She was originally named the "Highland Laird" and owned by W. & H. Nelson & Co., Liverpool, England. In 1928, she was purchased by Job Brothers and Company, St. John's, Newfoundland; renamed; and converted into a factory-freezer. She was the largest steamer in the Job Brothers fleet. The "Blue Peter" was sold in 1937 and the registry closed in 1939 after she became broken up at Briton Ferry, Wales.
