Ltd. She was one of the first ships specifically designed to navigate in ice. She was used in the seal hunt for many years and as a troop carrier during World War I. On February 24, 1918 she left St. John's for Halifax and New York with a crew and seventy-eight passengers on board. Poor weather made navigation difficult, and she went aground on rocks near Cappahayden.
