Biography/Admin History: The brig "Belle", official number 42406, gross tonnage 165, was built in Pugwash, Nova Scotia, in 1861 and registered the following year to merchant John Munn of Harbour Grace, Conception Bay, Newfoundland. The vessel was lost in Conception Bay in 1876, and closed off of the registry that year. The "Belle" was known as a fast vessel, once claiming an ocean passage record for a voyage from Harbour Grace to Lisbon that took just eight days.
