Physical Description: 1 painting : col. ; 42 x 66 cm
Biography/Admin History: The brig "Blanche Currey" was built at Portmadoc, Wales in 1875 and registered at Carnarvon in 1876, 180 registered tons, official number 70703, owned by John Jones of Merioneth. By 1900 the vessel had been rebuilt as a barquentine and was owned by William Prichard and Llwyn Onn of Portmadoc. On December 12, 1913 the "Blanche Currey" was outward bound from Bahia after delivering fish in ballast, destined for St. John's but never seen again. She was last spoken to on February 4th, 1914 at St. John's. She was believed to have been lost in a violent storm south of Cape Race with all hands.
Custodial History: The painting was given to Brian Wadden by a family member of the Newfoundland shipbuilder Michael Kearney, who Mr. Wadden said had owned the vessel at one time.
