Biography/Admin History: The schooner "Thomas S. Gorton", official number 142071, gross tonnage 140, was built 1905 at Essex, Massachusetts. In 1919 the vessel transferred to Newfoundland under the ownership of Carbonear merchant, Arthur Moses Earle for his company, Bay of Islands Fisheries Co., Ltd. Vessel struck an iceberg and became a total loss on June 10, 1956 at Latitude 49.57N and Longitude 54.43W.
