Doyle Lim., St. John's, Newfoundland, personal craft of Gerald S. Doyle. She was originally named "Queen of Newfoundland" but became the "Miss Newfoundland" in 1948. By 1965 she was owned by Earle Freighting Services Ltd., Carbonear. Captain Guy Earle was born in Carbonear in 1917. He entered the family firm of Earle Freighting Services of Carbonear at the age of fourteen, and by the age of eighteen attained ship's captaincy. He was for many years a sealing captain and partner of Earle Freighting Services. He and his brother Fred Earle started the sister company, Earle Brothers Fisheries.
