Biography/Admin History: Captain Guy Earle was born in Carbonear in 1917. He entered the family firm of Earle Freighting Services of Carbonear at the age of fourteen, and by the age of eighteen attained ship's captaincy. He was for many years a sealing captain and partner of Earle Freighting Services. He and his brother Fred Earle started the sister company, Earle Brothers Fisheries. Earle died on February 19, 1968. "Maneco" - Built in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia in 1931, 248 gross tons, wooden, official number 157095, registered at St. John's, Newfoundland in 1933 and owned by the Bell Island Steamship Co. Lim. at that time. Renamed the "Terra Nova" in 1961. Foundered on March 21, 1964 in position of Latitude 50.18 N. and Longitude 55.07 W. and was declared a total loss.
