On August 14, 2016, I began my role as the Dean of Medicine at Memorial University’s Faculty of Medicine. It has been an honour and privilege to serve as the sixth dean of medicine and first woman dean of the Faculty of Medicine.

Spring is in the air and with the winter semester for our graduate learners now finished, we are looking forward to celebrating our learners who have completed their programs and those who will continue their studies here at Memorial.

It feels as though this has been a rather long winter weather-wise, with multiple snow storms in Atlantic Canada, even though the winter seemed delayed initially. I hope you have been able to stay safe during the stormier days as we get close to spring-like temperatures.

With the classes winding down for many of our learners, I hope everyone had a good fall semester. It has been a rather busy few months and I want to extend my thanks to our staff and faculty who continue to support our learners in so many ways. If you see me in the hallway, please say hello and let me know how you are doing.

The Campus Food Bank and Student Life are partnering to host a food drive on the St. John’s campus, to assist with increasing demands for the food bank's services.

If you are a graduate from our Doctor of Medicine program, I hope you will join us for this year's MUNMed Reunion of 2022. We will be celebrating and honouring the graduates from the classes of 1977, 1982, 1987, 1992, 1997, 2002, 2007, 2012 and 2017. The reunion weekend will include two days of social activities, educational lectures, and plenty of time to reminisce with old and new friends. The devastation from Hurricane Fiona has impacted many of our communities in Atlantic Canada, including Prince Edward Island, parts of New Brunswick and particularly in Port aux Basques and coastal communities on the southwest coast of Newfoundland and Labrador.
