The Policy Toolkit is a resource to help demystify policy development by breaking down the supporting framework, the development and approval cycle, and essential components.

The Policy Framework provides a structure to guide the discussion, development and approval cycle of policy.

Policy components are essential to the development and maintenance of policies and are categorized according to:

• Policy Content - components that make up the body of a policy, and
• Policy Maintenance - components used for cataloguing and maintaining policies

The Faculty of Medicine (FOM) policy template (.docx file) is provided to ensure a standardized format for all policies across the faculty, and consistent with the format used university-wide. Members of the FOM community who are engaged in drafting policies are advised to use the policy template (.docx file).
