REF NO.: 28

SUBJECT: Memorial University residences filling Hatcher Square for hurricane relief

DATE: Oct. 4

On Wednesday, Oct. 6, occupants of Memorial University’s 13 residences, co-ordinated by the Residence Life Office, want to make Hatcher Square disappear.
From 9 a.m.-4 p.m., everyone is invited to donate non-perishable food items in aid of Hurricane Igor victims, with the aim of covering the entire area of the claret-coloured playing surface between R. Gushue Hall and Hatcher House.
In order to achieve the residents’ goal of covering the entirety of Hatcher Square, tin or package food staples will be accepted any time on Wednesday, Oct. 6. Coins will also be enthusiastically accepted.
All money donations will be collected by the Red Cross. All food donations will be distributed by the Community Food Sharing Association, which is on schedule to deliver the collected food items to affected areas on Friday, Oct. 8.
