Executive Director, Division of Marketing and Communications
It is my privilege to lead the team of talented professionals in Marketing & Communications. Together we are responsible for internal and external communications, marketing and a range of other related services for Newfoundland and Labrador’s only university.
Born and raised in St. John’s, I am a proud alumna of Memorial, with a BA in history and English. I also hold a certificate in museum studies from the Manitoba Museum of Man and Nature, earned during my early career in public programs and communications in the museum field.
I came to the university in 1990 when this division was called University Relations and have held the senior role in this unit since 1992. Over my 20+ years here, I have seen great changes -- in Memorial and in this unit. I have had the pleasure of working for six dynamic university presidents, while developing this division to serve the evolving public relations and promotional needs of the university. Our innovative work has brought recognition to Memorial numerous times in national and international awards programs where our peers review and evaluate our efforts.
In the university advancement profession, I have served in service and leadership roles in our national and international organizations (CCAE, CASE), providing fabulous PD for me -- and great opportunities to profile Memorial.
Locally I have volunteered with heritage groups (Museum Association, Heritage Foundation) and other charities promoting health and well-being in our community (Red Cross, United Way).
